Imagine my surprise when I stumbled upon Emmet Blake’s classic The Birds of Mexico in the used-book section of a birder’s gift shop. First edition, in very good cdition, with dust jacket.
Blake was a Bond contemporary and one of the U.S. ornithologist/spies during World War II that I wrote about in The Real James Bond.
I will likely donate it to the Free Library of Philadelphia, where I donated my Bond archive.
I also happened upon brief 1953 review of Blake’s book that compares it to Bond’s classic Birds of the West Indies.
