The Real James Bond

Calling All 007 Lovers and Bird Lovers!

Don’t miss IRadio’s latest “Very Special Episodes” podcast, “The Other James Bond.” It’s based on my book, 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘙𝘦𝘢𝘭 𝘑𝘢𝘮𝘦𝘴 𝘉𝘰𝘯𝘥 from Schiffer Publishing, and it’s first-rate.
The real Bond, a Philadelphia ornithologist, was famous for two reasons: He wrote the landmark book 𝘉𝘪𝘳𝘥𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘞𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘐𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘦𝘴, and he became one of the world’s greatest victims of identity theft after the legendary Ian Fleming stole the name for his Secret Agent 007. And as the podcast explains, Bond might have been a spy himself during World War II.
The podcasters interviewed me, Robert Peck (Bond’s colleague at Philadelphia’s The Academy of Natural Sciences), and author David Contosta (who wrote extensively about Bond and his wife, Mary Wickham Bond). We’re quoted extensively in the highly entertaining 50-minute podcast.
“Very Special Episodes” podcasts are billed as “Stranger-than-fiction tales about normal people in extraordinary situations. Stories that make you say, ‘This should be a movie.’ ”
